Old Town Blooms is a grassroots beautification project that began with local resident Craig den Hartog — a horticulturist and owner of Emerald Magic Lawn Care, our proud primary sponsor — and a few dedicated neighbors who wanted to make their community more vibrant.
What started with a few daffodils has blossomed into something incredible. To date, we’ve planted or donated over 50,000 daffodils throughout Old Town Road and surrounding areas!
Our Vision: 100,000 Blooms
We dream of becoming a true Blooming Community. By getting residents involved in planting, cleaning, and volunteering, we can beautify our neighborhoods and inspire pride and connection across our town. When we work together, great things grow!

Why Daffodils?
Daffodils are one of the first signs of spring on Long Island. They come back year after year, they spread into larger clumps over time, and deer and rabbits tend to leave them alone, which makes them a perfect fit for roadsides and shared spaces. A bulb planted in the fall becomes a burst of yellow every spring for neighbors and passersby to enjoy.
